9th 2007, Frank Alfano, Warren
On January 30th we had an informative look at
the drainage problems about town. The study conducted and
presented gave the town a clear path to future solutions.
Residents from three main areas (Franklin Street, Vernon
Street-Central Avenue, and Warren Town Beach) were present and
offered valuable first hand knowledge and suggestions. The
council will deliberate possible solutions and look at the
capital side of the budget in the next two months to accomplish
some of the recommended actions. Louis Rego and I walked the
site from the bikepath to the Central Avenue area after
attending a meeting with local legislators on Saturday morning,
February 3rd at the Bristol Town Hall.
On Tuesday, February 6th at 6 PM at Town Hall
a presentation organized by Sandy Speroni and Maya Gamon in
coordination with a representative of
the RI Secretary of State Office was given to explain new
regulations about meeting filings on the state website. Ethics
information was also distributed.
On Saturday morning, February 10th at 9 in
Town Hall, the Renewable Energy Committee will meet. Councilman
DePasquale has been chosen the Chairperson of this new
committee. Immediately after the meeting, Mr. Depasquale and I
will travel to FedEx to walk the path leading to the Palmer
River. We hope to meet with Jane Harrison and Bob Rutkiewicz as
well. As Councilman DePasquale will propose at the council
meeting, the hope is to secure grants to restore and remediate
the area.
On Tuesday evening, February 13, 2007 the
Warren Town Council will have another monthly meeting which will
deal with many areas of town. As usual, there will be plenty of
discussion about many different issues that have been placed on
the agenda which I will post below. Some of the items include
recognition of the newly selected Warren Athletic Hall of Fame
inductees, appointments to various boards, speed limits,
proposed ordinances about fees for fire inspections, public
hearings dealing with Display World (Parker Mills) and an auto
dealership (Clare Realty), a trash halling contract that the
town has been working diligently to negotiate so that the cost
does not rise, a first look at the future of one or maybe two
school buildings in town, and several business items that are
needed for our community.
I spoke with Acting Town Clerk Sandy Speroni
this afternoon and there are two possible addedum items
pertaining to the council advocating for the Portuguese
Consulate in Providence to remain open. Councilman Louis Rego
may translate into Portuguese for us and the TV audience some of
the council resolution and the council letter to the Portuguese
Prime Minister. I sincerely hope that the agenda appears in
proper fashion for you. Hope to see you there.
Sincerely,
Frank J. Alfano
